塑钢型材是一种复合工程塑料， 主要成分是PVC。
和塑料型材的区别：
塑料型材包含PVC，PP，ABS， PVC-C型材等很多材质种类，而塑钢型材特指建筑门窗用的硬质PVC型材。
塑钢型材的名称由来：
我国最早的塑料门窗于1983年从国外进口，当时作为建筑门窗用的塑料型材在欧美已经非常流行,英文名字为 UNPLASTIZED PVC PROFILES,按照字面直接翻译应为未增塑聚氯乙烯型材。 因为进口的塑料门窗内部都有钢材加强支撑，有塑也有钢，因为我国已经有钢窗流行，塑料门窗给人的第一感觉就是包了一层塑料的钢窗，于是就有了塑钢门窗的俗名。三十年过去了，如今我国已经成为全球最大的塑料门窗型材生产国和出口国，习惯的力量是巨大的，塑钢型材这个词代替了复杂难记的英文直译名字，继续着它顽强的生命力。
